Voz pasiva (Passive Voice)

S = sujeto (subject)
QW = palabra interrogativa

The book was written by my brother.
El libro fue escrito por mi hermano.

The car is washed every week.
El auto se lava todas las semanas.
- negativa S + be (la forma depende del tiempo verbal) + not + verbo irregular (III)/verbo regular+ed + ... The test isn't finished yet.
La prueba no está terminada todavía.

Your work wasn't completed yesterday.
When was the task completed?
¿Cuándo se completó la tarea?

Is the project finished?
¿Está el proyecto terminado?

Who was the book written by?
¿Por quién fue escrito el libro?

1.2Voz activa vs voz pasiva

Voz activa
Sujeto = agente
Somebody built this house in 2022.

It's unknown who took it; the focus is on the absence of the wallet.

2.2Agente evidente o generalizado / impersonalidad

Por ejemplo: "My wallet has been taken" (no sabemos quién se lo llevó), "The thief has been arrested" (obviamente, por la policía) y "English is spoken all over the world", donde en español solemos decir "se habla inglés en todo el mundo". La pasiva también es habitual para describir procesos: "The coffee beans are harvested, roasted and then ground."

Compara "The dog ate the cake" (activa: el perro hace algo) con "The cake was eaten by the dog" (pasiva: al pastel le pasa algo).

¿By o with en la voz pasiva?

Di "The cake was eaten by the dog", pero "The cake was cut with a knife", no "by a knife". The house was damaged by the storm." Aunque el "por" del español a veces se traduce como for, el agente no lleva "for" ni "from": di "He was arrested by the police", no "for the police".

¿Es correcto decir "The letter was been sent" en voz pasiva?

No: en la pasiva del Past Simple, "was" va seguido directamente del participio pasado (past participle), así que di "The letter was sent". Por eso "was been sent" es incorrecto. "Been" solo aparece en los tiempos perfectos, después de have, has o had: "The letter has been sent." "Being" se usa en los tiempos continuos: "The house is being cleaned now." Después de un verbo modal (modal verb), usa "be": "The task can be completed", no "The task can been completed".

¿Es correcto decir "The book was wrote" en voz pasiva?

Di "He was given two weeks", no "He was gave two weeks", y "My dog was stolen", no "My dog was stole". Tampoco añadas -ed a un verbo irregular: "was stealed" es incorrecto.
