2.2Can See, Hear, Taste, Smell, Feel

Alguns exemplos são know, believe, understand, like, want, prefer, belong, own, seem e contain. Diga "I know the answer", e não "I'm knowing the answer", e "This book belongs to me", e não "This book is belonging to me". Alguns, como have e think, também têm sentido de ação, e aí a forma contínua é possível: "I'm having lunch."

"I'm wanting" ou "I want"?

Porque são verbos de estado (stative verbs): no inglês padrão, diga "I want" e "I know", e não "I'm wanting" ou "I am knowing". Em português é comum dizer "estou querendo" ou "não estou entendendo", mas em inglês esses verbos ficam no Present Simple mesmo quando você fala deste momento: "I want a coffee right now", e não "I'm wanting a coffee right now". O mesmo vale para understand: "I don't understand", e não "I'm not understanding".

"I think" ou "I'm thinking": quando think é um verbo de estado?

Think é um verbo de estado (stative verb) quando expressa opinião: "I think it's a good idea", e não "I'm thinking it's a good idea". I'm thinking about the problem." O mesmo vale para have: "I have a car" (posse), e não "I'm having a car", mas "I'm having lunch" (estou almoçando) está certo, porque é uma ação.

"I can hear" ou "I'm hearing": como dizer "estou ouvindo" em inglês?

Para dizer que você está ouvindo ou vendo algo neste momento, o inglês costuma usar can: "I can hear music", e não "I'm hearing music". Em português dizemos "estou ouvindo" ou "estou vendo" sem "posso", por isso é fácil dizer "I'm hearing" em vez de "I can hear". Da mesma forma: "I can see a bird", "I can smell garlic", principalmente no inglês britânico. A forma sem can também está certa ("I hear music in the distance"); a forma contínua é usada para uma ação intencional: "She is tasting the soup" (está provando).

"I'm loving it" está correto se love é um verbo de estado (stative verb)?

Sim, "I'm loving it" é aceitável no inglês informal: a forma com -ing mostra que você está curtindo algo agora, não um sentimento duradouro. "I'm loving this movie" quer dizer que você está curtindo o filme neste momento. I'm hating this weather."
