2.Preguntas frecuentes

Di "The phone rang" y "She sang at the concert", pero "The phone has rung twice" y "She has sung in that choir for years". The door sprang open", no "The door sprung open".

Di "A bee stung me" y "He swung the bat". Stick, wring y dig funcionan igual: "stick - stuck - stuck", "wring - wrung - wrung", "dig - dug - dug".

Di "She laid the book on the table" y "I lay on the sofa all afternoon", donde lay es el pasado de lie. "The letter had lain unopened for weeks" usa el participio de lie. No escribas "layed".

Puedes decir "She dived into the pool" o, en inglés americano, "She dove into the pool". Para el participio, "dived" es la opción segura en todas partes: "He has dived off that cliff before."

Puedes decir "The theory has proved correct" o "The theory has proven correct"; proven es especialmente frecuente en inglés americano. No uses proven como Past Simple: "He proved his point", no "He proven his point".
