Present Perfect

| Esempio | Commento |
|---|---|
| Have you seen him today? Lo hai visto oggi? |
at any time today in un momento qualsiasi di oggi |
| He has run 20 miles. Ha corso 20 miglia. |

( lately, recently, for + period of time, all one's life, since + a point in time, all day/night/week ecc. ).

I still live here. Vivo ancora qui. |
| We have waited all day. Aspettiamo da tutto il giorno. |

|---|---|

3.Trucchi
3.1to Be In / To
| Esempio | Commento |
|---|---|
| She has been in the library all day long. È in biblioteca da tutto il giorno. |
She is now in the library. Adesso è in biblioteca. |
| I've been in the room for 2 hours. Sono nella stanza da 2 ore. |
I am still here, in this room. Sono ancora qui, in questa stanza. |
| I've been in Paris for a week. Sono a Parigi da una settimana. |
I arrived in Paris a week ago and I am now in Paris Sono arrivato a Parigi una settimana fa e adesso sono a Parigi |
| Esempio | Commento |
|---|---|
| She has been to the library twice. È stata due volte in biblioteca. |
past completed visit, experience. She is not in the library now. visita conclusa nel passato, esperienza. Ora non è in biblioteca. |
| I' ve been to the room many times. Sono stato molte volte in quella stanza. |
I am not in the room now. Ora non sono nella stanza. |
| I've been to Paris three times. Sono stato a Parigi tre volte. |
I am not in Paris now. Ora non sono a Parigi. |

3.2already e yet
| Tipo di frase | Esempio | Commento |
|---|---|---|
| Affermativa + | I have already read the book. Ho già letto il libro. |
something is done or achieved, often before the expected time qualcosa è fatto o raggiunto, spesso prima del previsto |
| Gosh, he's finished painting the kitchen already! |
that's more than was expected at this time è più di quanto ci si aspettasse a questo punto |
|
| Negativa - | The bus hasn't come yet. L'autobus non è ancora arrivato. |
something has not happened up to now qualcosa non è successo fino a ora |
| I haven't decided on the topic yet, but I think I will speak about literature. |
things which are expected but which have not happened cose che ci si aspetta ma che non sono successe |
|
| Interrogativa ? | Has your brother finished school yet? Tuo fratello ha già finito la scuola? |
I expect that me lo aspetto |
| Interrogativa ? | Has your brother already finished school? He's only 17! Tuo fratello ha già finito la scuola? Ha solo 17 anni! |
I'm surprised if your brother has finished school. I did not expect it to happen until later.

Per esempio: «I've been to Paris twice» (esperienza), «I've bought a new car» (notizia), «Have you seen him today?» (la giornata non è finita) e «I have lived here for two years» (ci abito ancora). I bought it on Monday», non «I have bought it on Monday».
Il Present Perfect si forma con have o has più il participio passato (past participle): «I have finished», «She has finished». Has si usa con he, she e it, have con I, you, we e they. I verbi regolari aggiungono -ed («We have worked»), mentre quelli irregolari usano la terza forma: «She has eaten», non «She has ate». Nella negativa si usa haven't o hasn't: «He hasn't seen it». Nella domanda have o has va prima del soggetto (subject): «Have you called him yet?»
For o since con il Present Perfect: quale si usa?
For si usa con una durata («for five years»), since con il momento di inizio («since 2020»). Quindi si dice «I have lived here for five years», non «I have lived here since five years» né «I live here for five years». For risponde a «How long?» (for two hours, for ages), since a «From when?» (since Monday, since November). I've made many friends since I moved here».
Been to o been in: qual è la differenza nel Present Perfect?
«Been to» un luogo significa esserci stato e tornato; «been in» significa esserci rimasto per un periodo, spesso fino a ora. Confronta «She has been to Paris three times» (ora non è lì) con «She has been in Paris for a week» (è ancora lì). Con been in di solito si dice per quanto tempo: «They've been in the office all day». Gone to è ancora diverso: «He has gone to Paris» significa che ci è andato e non è ancora tornato.
Per esempio: «I have already read the book», «She's just arrived» e «The bus hasn't come yet». Has your brother finished school yet?» Already in una domanda può esprimere sorpresa: «Has he already finished school? He's only 17!»
